Our course will span 5 days and will be held in the exquisite Mozart Hall at the Music School of Vienna, situated in the heart of the city. The course fee amounts to 500 euros and includes 5 individual sessions with Reinhard Latzko, along with 2 sessions led by his assistant, Ion Storojenco, both accompanied by piano played by Hemma Tuppy. As a culmination of the course, each participant will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in the final concert scheduled for the 9th of July at Bank Austria Salon im Alten Rathaus, one of the most beautiful venues in the center of Vienna, generously offered by Bank Austria.

Reinhard Latzko is one of the most multifaceted cellists of his generation. In addition to his extensive performing career, he has especially made a name for himself as a successful cello teacher and music communicator. Born in Freising, near Munich, he studied with Jan Polasek, Martin Ostertag and Heinrich Schiff. From 1987 - 2003 Reinhard Latzko was solo cellist of the Südwestfunk Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Michael Gielen.

Teaching has been one of the special focal points in his artistic career, already since 1990, when he was tutor in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. From 1988 - 2005 he took over Boris Pergamenschikow's cello class at the Music Academy in Basel. Since 2003 he has held a professorship at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. His students include prize winners of international competitions and hold leading positions in orchestras around the world. World-wide masterclasses underscore Reinhard Latzko's international status as one of the most sought-after instructors.

Additionally he has been since October 2016 Senior Lecturer for chamber music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz.

Reinhard Latzko is himself a winner of national and international competitions, performing as soloist as well as chamber music partner, with Markus Schirmer, Christian Tetzlaff, Ernst Kovacic, Christian Altenburger, Christopher Hinterhuber. He has performed in concert halls world-wide, including the Musikverein as well as Konzerthaus in Vienna, Shanghai Concert Hall, Philharmonie in Berlin, among others. He has also been invited to the Cello Biennale in Amsterdam, the Shanghai Cello Festival and the Supercello Festival in Peking. Reinhard Latzko has performed as soloist with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Südwestfunk Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Wiener Kammerorchester and the Camerata Salzburg. His thorough exploration into comtemporary music has resulted in world premieres of works, including those by Wolfgang Rihm, Ernst Krenek and Michael Gielen.

Reinhard Latzko is artistic director of the chamber music festival "con anima" in Ernstbrunn.

For several years Reinhard Latzko has put his stamp on a new and innovative form of orchestra leading, working with Ensemble Resonanz in Hamburg and Het Balletorkest in Amsterdam, among others.

Ion Storojenco is a musician with a vast and varied career in the field of music, spanning three branches. As a pedagogue, he currently teaches cello at the Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. As a soloist, he has performed alongside orchestras from various countries, including Romania, Moldova, Austria, Germany, and Egypt. Additionally, as an orchestra musician, he is a member of the Tonkünstler Orchester Niederösterreich. Throughout his extensive collaboration with the renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and participation in numerous chamber music ensembles, he has amassed a rich repertoire and performed on the world's grand stages.

Born into a family of musicians, Ion left after graduating from the Music High School in Cluj to continue his studies in Vienna and Paris, where he had the privilege of learning from professors such as Reinhard Latzko, Marc Coppey, Valentin Erben, and Robert Nagy.

Since 2013, Ion Storojenco has been a permanent collaborator of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, performing under the baton of world-renowned conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Muti, Andris Nelsons, and many others, on prestigious stages such as the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Santori Hall in Tokyo, Carnegie Hall in New York, and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Between 2015 and 2017, he held the position of principal cellist at the Baden Philharmonic Orchestra in Pforzheim, Germany, and is currently a member of the Tonkünstler Orchestra Lower Austria. He has also been invited to perform at renowned international festivals, including those in Verbier, Switzerland, Salzburg Festival in Austria, and others.

As a soloist, Ion has collaborated with various orchestras, including the Badische Philharmonie Pforzheim, Academic Orchestra Association in Vienna, Cairo Symphony Orchestra, and philharmonics in cities such as Iași, Cluj, Satu-Mare, and others.

Ion plays two exceptional instruments, one crafted in 1802 by the renowned English luthier Thomas Kennedy, and the other from 1892, made by the French luthier Collin-Mezin.

Born in Vienna, Hemma Tuppy completed her studies in Piano Performance and Accompaniment with distinction at the University of Music and Performing Arts under the tutelage of Stefan Arnold and David Lutz. She furthered her artistic development at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin with Wolfram Rieger and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Claudius Tanski.

Her extensive concert career as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist has taken her to prestigious venues throughout Europe, as well as to countries including Russia (Philharmonie St. Petersburg), Mexico, Cuba, Egypt, India, and Japan. Among her accolades are prizes from the International Lied Duo Competition in St. Petersburg, the Rudolf Heydner Piano Competition, the International Vienna Pianist Competition, and the European Music Prize for Youth in the piano trio category.

She has participated in esteemed festivals such as the Haydn Festspiele Eisenstadt, the Liszt Festival Raiding, and the Kultursommer Semmering.

As a soloist, she has performed with renowned orchestras including the Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the University Orchestra of Guanajuato, the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, and the Polish Chamber Philharmonic.

Since 2018, Hemma Tuppy has been teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna as an assistant to Alma Sauer in the preparatory course for piano and as a répétiteur at the Fritz Kreisler Institute.
